International judges recognise Yego’s development of innovative technologies to organise Africa’s taxi industry…
14 November 2018 – Earlier this week at a glittering awards ceremony in Cape Town, Yego Innovision was named as the Best App in Africa for Mobility and Transport.
The annual AppsAfrica awards celebrate the best in mobile and tech from across Africa. The Awards attracted over 300 submissions from 39 countries by start-ups, established ventures, and corporates. Applications for the 14 categories were assessed and judged by an independent panel of industry experts including media, investors, and leaders from the tech ecosystem.
Yego beat off competition in its category from a shortlist that included Flx (South Africa), LÜLA (South Africa), UGABUS Inc (Uganda) and Zuoix for ZOOMED (Cameroon).
Andrew Fassnidge, founder of the AppsAfrica.com awards, said
“Yego is an outstanding example of how a new disruptive service, launched and tested in Rwanda, can revolutionise the mobility sector across the continent, using innovative technology to create employment and delivering revenue for Governments.
I congratulate Karanvir Singh, Yego’s CEO and founder, for his drive and determination and look forward to seeing continued growth across the continent.”
Launched in Rwanda in September 2017, Yegomoto has adopted a new approach, including the development of innovative technologies, to bring safety, security, and order to Africa’s taxi industry.
Karanvir Singh, CEO of Yego Innovision who picked up the award, said “It is fantastic to be recognised as one of Africa’s Best Apps.
We are not trying to be another Uber. Our system makes life easier for passengers, drivers, the police, and licensing departments. The possibilities are endless: as an ambitious company, our next goal is to begin delivering goods and people such as electricians, plumbers, cleaners to people’s doorsteps.”
A Yego ICFM (Intelligent Connected Fare Meter) has been installed on taxi cabs and motorcycle Taxis in Rwanda. These IoT devices connect to Yego’s cloud-based platform where trip data, fares, driver information etc. are automatically stored and enable:
